I am keen to share my own comprehensive knowledge of musicianship, technique, theory, music history, and music appreciation, all with the aim of aiding my students find their own musical voice.
I offer private tutoring and workshops in all of the subjects listed above. Additionally, I work as a vocal coach for singers looking to improve their interpretative and performance skills, and help other pianists build their collaborative artistry.
Please keep reading to find out more about my studio policies. I look forward to hearing from you.

Studio Policy
-
I will individualize instruction for each student, considering their specific needs and learning styles. I will help each student set short- and long-term goals, and help motivate them to reach those goals. I will provide a safe and encouraging space for exploration and questions, and for expressing themselves through piano. Above all, I will help each student become self-sufficient and confident in their skills as a pianist.

Students agree to arrive at each lesson punctually or be ready to begin at their specific lesson time (if taking in-home lessons). They will be well prepared, bringing their assignment book, music books, and flashcards. To be well prepared, we will formulate a practice schedule tailored to each student. Consistent practice leads to good progress. For students under the age of seven, parents are encouraged to check in with their child after each at-home practice session to see that the student has completed all of their assigned tasks.
Students are encouraged to ask questions about home assignments so that the student and the parent can completely understand what is expected of them. In between lessons, the best way to ask these questions is via email. I will respond during regular business hours.
All students are encouraged to play in our annual recital, and to take auditions for local ensembles, talent shows, or competitions. If an opportunity arises, please bring the information to the next lesson, and I will help the student prepare.
Parents: if something is happening at home or school that is affecting your child, please let me know. The more information I have, the more I can be sensitive to the needs of your child.

TUITION
*Please note that tuition reserves the weekly time slot, but may not directly correlate with lessons received if the student does not attend the scheduled lesson times.
Flat monthly tuition rates are based on the number of guaranteed lessons in the calendar year. There will be a minimum of 44 lessons offered throughout the year, and the weeks where lessons are not held (due to holidays, personal performance opportunities, teacher illness, etc.) will be communicated in advance when possible.
All payments are non-refundable. After the first payment, payments will run on the 1st of each month through Fons for all enrolled students. Any payments not received by the 3rd of the month are subject to a $20 late fee.
Recurring late payments may result in the termination of the student’s enrollment.
Automatic payment is available via credit card or ACH Bank Payment. Venmo, PayPal, and Zelle will not be accepted.
TERMINATION
To end enrollment for the coming month, notice must be received via email by the 15th of the current month. In the case that notice is not received by that deadline, the full tuition amount will be run automatically on the first of the month, and students have the option to attend all paid lessons that month. Lessons will then be canceled for the following month.
-
Lessons that are cancelled with at least 24 hours notice will receive a make-up lesson credit. Lessons that are cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will NOT receive a make-up lesson credit.
When notice of a missed lesson is provided 24 hours prior, the studio may provide up to 2 make-up lessons each term (September-December; January-May, June-August), subject to availability. Make-up lessons must be used within 30 days.
In the case of mild teacher illness, mild student illness, severe weather, or other conflicts, lessons may be held online. When virtual lessons are offered, make-up credits will not be offered. If the student opts out of the virtual lesson that lesson and tuition will be forfeited.
Lessons cancelled by me will be given as much notice as possible and will be rescheduled within 30 days.
Tuition is based on the number of lessons the studio schedules and will not be altered. Planned vacations or other conflicts communicated in advance receive a make-up lesson credit for that month.
The same attendance, cancellation, and make up lesson policies apply for all virtual lessons. In the case of student technical difficulties, make-up lessons will not be offered, and extensions to the reserved lesson time cannot be guaranteed. It is strongly recommended that students have a backup device available when possible.
-
Each student is responsible for purchasing the required music and materials for lessons. Materials will be assigned by me and the student will be expected to have the materials no later than two weeks after the materials have been assigned. Advanced notice will be provided whenever possible.
-
When students enroll, they are reserving their place in the studio for the entire term. Changes to weekly schedules may be made on a case-by-base basis each month before tuition is due.
If the student decides to pause lessons during the course of a semester, tuition for the remainder of the semester still applies. Alterations to this policy are on a case-by-case basis.

From time to time, I use photos and short videos of my students around the studio, on the studio website, or in social media posts. These videos and posts are encouraging to other students and helpful to other teachers. If you do not want your child's image(s) to be used, please let me know. In general, the students love to see their pictures and videos on my website or around the studio. They find it motivating and exciting to think that others want to know what they are learning. The students are identified only by first name.
